If you are looking for a heavy duty grill, check out the Dyna-Glo DGE Series 5 Burner grill. With 62,000 total BTU’s and 708 square inches of cooking space, it is one of the largest out there.

Burners

This grill has 5 burners made of stainless steel and stainless steel heat tents which protect the burners, vaporize the grease drippings and distribute the heat evenly across the cooking grates. You can also order this model with 4 burners but we will review the 5 burner model.

BTU

British Thermal Units are used as a measure to determine the amount of heat generated by a grill. According to Wikipedia, a four inch wooden match when consumed completely generates 1 BTU. This grill generates 50,000 BTU’s per hour (10,000 per burner which is about average). The side grill generates another 12,000 BTU’s. Some owners reported reaching temperatures of 650 degrees which is plenty for searing.

Cooking Grate

There is 708 square inches of cooking space. The primary cooking area is 28.5 inches by 19 inches. It is advertised that the grates are made of stainless steel although some owners disputed this.

Exterior

The grill can be ordered in 2 colors: bronze or gunmetal. There is one side shelf and a side burner. It sits on four wheels. There is a push button electronic igniter to get the grill started.

There is a grease catcher which can be removed and cleaned and a thermometer mounted in the lid.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas is used to fuel the flames in the burners. There is hidden space under the grill where the cylinder is stored. One nice feature of this grill is that the cylinder can be pulled out with a sliding tray. The cylinder is not included in the price of the unit.

Dimensions

This unit is 53 inches wide, 24.6 inches deep and 47 inches high. It weighs 108 pounds.

Accessories

It is always a good idea to get a cover for the grill to protect it from the elements. Other accessories include a grill brush for cleaning, a rotisserie kit which is recommended for porcelain grates and of course, barbecue tools. You will also need some sort of aluminum pan for the grease catcher.
